Walker Fam 2019 Video Yearbook

family holiday organization Jan 01, 2020

For the past three years, I’ve created a video yearbook of sorts for our family & friends in lieu of a christmas card.

Sure it’s a $hit ton of work, but I know in the end I will have a meaningful piece of work that my family will cherish for a lifetime.

Regardless of the warm and fuzzies we’ll feel years from now, stopping to actually accomplish said overwhelming task is another story.

The production of this “christmas card” requires going through thousands of pictures, four different apps and a partridge in a pear tree.

This year I broke the production process into small chunks, so that it wasn’t AS much of a behemoth task.

  1. Went through a years worth of pics on a drive to and from Hiawassee, GA with my girls and in-laws.
  2. Added all of the images to NOTES in my phone
  3. Brainstorm photo sequence and script.
  4. Moved all of the photos into 4 separate slideshows within the Ripl App.
  5. Added captions for each slide in Ripl App.
  6. Edited the size and spacing of every caption and image on each slide like a neurotic sociopath.
  7. Added the videos to iMovie, where I adjusted the length of each clip down to the millisecond so it flowed just so.
  8. THEN showed it to Brad last night…. before deciding it was too bland and edited the captions on 43% of the slides like the “reformed” perfectionist I claim to be.

Sure it’s so damn wordy now that only speed readers will be able to absorb all the words without tapping the pause button, but whatevs it’s done and that’s all that matters.

9. Send email with link to family and friends

10. Check the mother foxing box labelled “Christmas Video

Every step took place on different days, so the overall task was way less stressful.

Why am I telling you this?

Because this is the same approach I use in my course.

Going through your closet seems daunting to say the least right?!?

What if you toss the wrong things, end up losing the weight, need those clothes some day???

Don’t worry.

I’ve got your back and will give you guidance along the way.

Over the past 10 years, since I started editing closets, I’ve assessed tens of thousands of garments and I know exactly what’s going through your head as you evaluate each item.

I have the entire process all mapped out and the process is broken up, so it’s not overwhelming or scary.

The next few posts will help you adjust your mindset to prime the proverbial pump that will set you up for smooth sailing when it comes time to sort through your closet.

Until next time,

Be Real

Be Kind

Be Confident
